How to Change Interface Card Name on Ubuntu

Hi,

This post is a short of the original one posted here.

Let’s say that you wanna change the interface name from enp4s0 to eth0. All you have to do, is to change the name enp4s0 to eth0 in the proper configuration files.

Edit the file /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and change the field NAME with the name that you want. (ex: NAME=enp4s0 is gonna be NAME=eth0)

$ sudo vim /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

Edit the file /etc/network/interfaces and change the interface name properly (ex: enp4s0 is gonna be eth0)

$ sudo vim /etc/network/interfaces

Now, reboot your system.

That’s all,
